Description
This thesis, aimed to achieve a heritage management action plan to conserve and protect the heritage of Ekamra Kshetra, to inscribeitin to the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization)World Heritage List. The study methodology followed a close observational study, followed by photographic documentation and study of government proposals for the Kshetra, followed by surveys, with the local communities of the area. After developing an indepth understanding of the precinct, urban design and development strategies were implemented, via guidelines and design interventions, on an identified action area and its buffer, within Ekamra Kshetra, that should act as a model for urban conservation of the precinct, and could be applied on other precincts too, finally assisting in Bhubaneswar’s inscription into the UNESCO World Heritage List.
