Abstract

Menstruation is a complex, coordinated biological process that signals the start of a woman's reproductive life. Women and adolescent girls all across the world require menstrual hygiene management solutions that are safe, effective, and affordable. The market has a wide variety of alternatives, including sanitary napkins, tampons, menstrual cups, and more. Menstrual cups are one of the world's safest, most comfortable, environmentally friendly, and sustainable menstrual hygiene management options.
Methods
The current study used a descriptive survey methodology with a purposive sample to determine the awareness and attitude toward menstrual cup use among 60 nursing students. Structured questionnaires were used to collect data on awareness and attitudes towards menstrual cup use. The data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The analysis was performed following the objectives, using SPSS version 16.0.

All participants were 60 (100%) in the age group of 19-22 years, most of them had regular menstrual cycles 53(88.3%), experiencing dysmenorrhea by them 25(41.6%). All had awareness of menstrual cup usage 60 (100%), them 46(76.7%) had information from media. The majority of 35(58.3%) nurses had good awareness, and 25 (41.7%) nurses had average awareness about the usage of menstrual cups. Most of the nurses 36 (60%) had favorable attitudes and 24(40%) had unfavorable attitudes towards the usage of menstrual cups.
Conclusion
Most of the participants had awareness regarding menstrual cup usage and most of the nurses had favorable attitudes toward the usage of menstrual cups, but the majority of them were skeptical about using them.
