Abstract
ABSTRACT :Examination anxiety is considered a situation specific trait which predisposes the students to respond with increasing anxiety to an exam. A Study to Assess the Level of Examination Anxiety among 10th Standard School Students in Selected Private High Schools in Udupi” The sample consisted for this study are 312 high school students of 10th standard of state board and CBSE where 156 boys and girls are selected from private high school. The Descriptive research design was used and samples are selected by using Convenience Non-Random Sampling. The standardized tool was used for assessing the anxiety by using Westside test anxiety scale that have 10 statement and responses are obtained. Data was analysed by using Descriptive and Inferential statistics. The results indicates overall level of Examination Anxiety among 10th Standard School Students in Selected Private High School that Majority (28.84%) of them have Comfortably Low Anxiety and (17.30%) of the respondents are identified with having Normal / Average Anxiety and High Normal Test Anxiety, whereas (18.30%) have Moderately High Anxiety and (10.89%) have High Test Anxiety and hardly (7.05%) respondents have Extremely High Anxiety. The findings also states that there is a difference in Exam Anxiety score among boys and girls. Based on mean scores of girls (2.7879) and total score 434.92 shows greater anxiety than mean scores of boys (2.3871) with the total scores 372.4 and there is a no differences in State and CBSE board as per the level of Examination Anxiety is concerned. It also states that there is significant association between students’ level of anxiety with demographic variable such as Gender and Monthly Family Income.
