Being ‘not normal’ is the new normal in India-China Ties
Abstract
Due to the unresolved military stand-off along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) since April 2020, India-China ties remain far from ‘normal’. After fifteen rounds of commander-level talks and eight rounds of meetings of the special Working Mechanism for the Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC), the border dispute has only intensified with new friction areas and large-scale deployment of troops on either side. In other words, bilateral ties as well as the situation at the border are now entering a ‘new normal’ of being ‘not normal’.
