Abstract
As a social issue that merits interest and intervention, child abuse is in its infancy in India. Understanding the societal standards of child treatment is necessary for formulating preventive measures against child abuse. Although statistical data on the sexual abuse of minor girls in India are not available the demand for younger girls in commercialized prostitution in metropolitan cities is a known factor. The study aims at developing and evaluating an Assertiveness Training Program on the prevention of abuses among adolescent girls 13-15 years. The adolescent period is a more vulnerable age to get into or invite problems. An assertiveness training program for adolescent girls will be useful if the girls could identify and prevent the danger of abuses of any kind before getting themselves into a problem situation.
