Abstract
Objectives: To develop and validate the KAP questionnaire for drummers towards noise-induced hearing loss and to administer the developed KAP questionnaire to drummers. Settings and Design: Cross-sectional study was carried out using a developed and validated KAP questionnaire. It was administered to 145 drummers in Wayanad, Kerala. Methods and Material: The current study consists of two phases: phase I includes the development, validation, and translation of the questionnaire. Phase II includes telephonic interviews with drummers. Statistical analysis used: Descriptive statistics were used to compile the results. Cronbach’s alpha was used to measure internal consistency. Results: The responses obtained from drummers showed inadequate knowledge, positive attitude, and poor practice. Conclusions: The current study's findings highlight the lack of awareness among drummers about hearing conservation and the need for training programmes to educate drummers about the effects of NIHL.
