Abstract
This work introduces a multiband frequency reconfigurable antenna designed for 5 G wireless communication. The antenna is design on Rogers RT/duroid 5880 substrate with thickness of 30mil or 0.762 mm with dielectric constant (εr) = 2.2 and loss tangent (tanδ) = 0.0009. The front view of the proposed antenna consists of rectangular loaded ring shaped and back view of the antenna have defected ground surface (DGS) that is used for the good impedance matching. The used substrate thickness is 0.762 mm and 0.035 mm copper on top and bottom sides. The overall size of the presented antenna is 22 × 22 × 0.762 mm³. In the front view of the proposed antenna structure four diodes are used for frequency reconfigurability of the antenna. The antenna operates in multiband frequencies between the 7.5 GHz to 13.6 GHz range. The measured reflection coefficient of the proposed antenna is between -12.54 dB to -34.73 dB. The measured peak gain of the proposed antenna is 5.34 dBi at 11.5 GHz.
