Abstract

Our case involves a 56-year-old man experiencing acute urinary retention and signs of acute intestinal obstruction. Imaging revealed a distinct large multiloculated cystic lesion (15.0 × 7.5 × 14.0 cm) originating from the right lobe of the prostate. Emergency laparotomy successfully achieved complete resection of the cystic lesion. Histopathology confirmed ancient schwannoma, displaying degenerative changes. The case indicated acute intracystic hemorrhage as a probable cause of sudden symptoms. This highlights the potential of prostatic schwannomas for cystic presentation and the capacity to cause acute surgical emergencies. Complete surgical excision remains the preferred treatment for this uncommon condition.
