Abstract

The textile industry has experienced significant growth due to population increases and rising living standards, leading to higher consumption and waste generation. This study highlights the importance of sustainability through the principles of reducing, reusing, and recycling to manage waste effectively. Textile and clothing industries are among the most polluting, primarily due to unplanned disposal of wastewater and fiber waste, which pose serious environmental challenges. Proper waste management practices are crucial to mitigating these issues globally. This paper examines current production methods, waste generation sources, waste characteristics, utilization, and environmental impacts. It also proposes a framework for effective textile waste management and discusses future developments needed to create value-added products within the textile and apparel industry.
