Abstract
This study investigates the significant environmental issue of plastic waste in India, stemming from high consumption and improper disposal practices. Mismanagement of plastic waste poses severe threats to public health, the environment, and ecosystems due to its non-degradable and non-decomposable nature. Various studies indicate that plastic waste is often dumped openly and unsystematically, exacerbating environmental problems. This comprehensive review examines the current status of plastic waste management in different cities and towns, highlights the key concerns related to plastic dumping, and evaluates various reprocessing technologies. Each technology is critically reviewed for its advantages and disadvantages. The study concludes with recommendations for improving reprocessing techniques, aiming to guide future research towards optimizing plastic waste management and addressing prevailing challenges more effectively.
