Summary of – Influence of Spousal Support and Coworker Support on Satisfaction with Work-Family Balance

Abstract
In today's rapidly evolving work environment, achieving a balance between work and family life has become increasingly challenging for employees. This work-family balance is crucial not only for individual well-being but also for organizational productivity. As such, understanding the factors that contribute to satisfaction with work-family balance (SWFB) and its subsequent impacts on work and life outcomes has become a significant area of interest for researchers and practitioners alike.
Research Goals and Hypotheses
The researchers aim to investigate the role of coworker support and spousal support in facilitating satisfaction with work-family balance (SWFB) among employees at the workplace, affecting outcome variables, namely, job involvement and life satisfaction.
Methodological Approach
The data were collected after taking informed verbal consent from the study participants. This includes 207 employees working in multinational corporations across various industries located in India. The study tests the hypotheses using covariance-based structural equation modelling (CB-SEM) as all the constructs used in the study are reflective.
Results and Discoveries
The findings of the study revealed that coworker support and spousal support positively influence SWFB, which in turn positively affects job involvement and life satisfaction. Thus, the present study establishes the relationships of coworker support and spousal support in facilitating SWFB. In addition, the study suggests that organisations may foster a workplace culture to encourage coworker support through certain HR practices. However, few of those HR practices have been discussed in the implications.
