Abstract

Study Background: This study tiled “Digital gender divide and adoption of open educational resources” investigates the impact of the digital gender divide on the adoption of open educational resources (OER). It examines how gender disparities in digital access and skills affect the utilization and effectiveness of OER in educational settings. The research identifies significant differences between genders in their engagement with these resources by analyzing data on digital literacy, internet access, and OER adoption rates.

Research Goals and Hypotheses: This study explores the impact of the digital gender divide on the adoption and use of open educational resources (OER). It aims to identify how gender-related disparities in digital access and skills affect engagement with OER.

Methodological Approach: Data were collected on digital literacy, internet access, and OER adoption rates, with a focus on gender differences. The study analyzed these factors to assess their influence on the effective use of OER in educational contexts.

Results and Discoveries: The findings reveal that women, particularly in underprivileged regions, face greater barriers to accessing and effectively using digital tools and OER compared to men. These barriers include lower levels of digital literacy, limited access to technology, and socio-cultural factors. The study emphasizes the need for targeted interventions to bridge the digital gender divide, such as improving digital literacy programs and increasing access to technology for women. Addressing these issues is crucial for ensuring equitable access to educational resources and maximizing the potential benefits of OER for all learners.
