Abstract
Earthquakes are one of the devastation forces of nature. A seismic event may lead to the loss of life and property. Thus, buildings are to be designed to safeguard against earthquake. Base isolation techniques are the very effective techniques in reducing the seismic demand of buildings. There are several types of base isolators which at present are used worldwide, these can be broadly classified into elastomer-based isolators and sliding isolators. The research work focuses on the behaviour of various building structures which are isolated with sliding and elastomer bearings.
