Abstract

We wish to draw the readers' attention to an error in the originally published article. In the article, Sect. 3.5 and the images presented in Fig. 7a–f were incorrectly labeled as scanning electron microscope (SEM) images. Upon review, we have identified that these images are optical micrographs. This error occurred due to a miscommunication during the image labeling and submission process. While the images themselves are accurate and remain valid for the conclusions drawn in the study, their mislabeling does not reflect the correct characterization method used. The error also affects the other places listed below. We apologize for this oversight and any confusion it may have caused. We confirm that this correction does not impact the scientific findings or interpretations presented in the study. The term 'scanning electron microscopy' and/or its abbreviation '(SEM)' was incorrectly used in the following places: In the last sentence of Sect. 1, where it should be removed. Sect. 2.5 should be removed in its entirety*. In Sect. 3.5, where it should read 'optical microscopy':Its heading ('Scanning electron microscopy (SEM)'), which should read 'Optical microscopy analysis'In the first sentences of the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 9th paragraphs, where it should read 'optical microscopy'.In the last sentence of the first paragraph, where it should read 'optical microscopy'.In two places in the caption to Fig. 7, where it should read 'optical microscopy'. In the third sentence of Sect. 4, where it should read 'optical microscopy' In the Acknowledgements section, where the entire last sentence ('They also thank and acknowledge CIF, MAHE-Manipal for providing the SEM facility') should be removed. In the last sentence of Sect. 1, where it should be removed. Sect. 2.5 should be removed in its entirety*. In Sect. 3.5, where it should read 'optical microscopy': Its heading ('Scanning electron microscopy (SEM)'), which should read 'Optical microscopy analysis' In the first sentences of the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th, and 9th paragraphs, where it should read 'optical microscopy'. The samples were prepared by gold sputtering to enhance surface conductivity and image resolution. SEM imaging was conducted using a Zeiss EVO MA 18 machine. High-resolution micrographs were captured to observe key features such as fiber pull-out, matrix cracking, and fiber-matrix separation. These images provided detailed insights into the fracture behavior, including the presence of fractured fiber ends, voids, and delamination, which were critical for understanding the composite’s structural integrity post-failure. The original article has been corrected.
