Abstract
Low energy consumption and high security are two key challenges in achieving efficient data transmission in LoRa-based wireless communication. The present research focuses on enhancing the efficiency and security of data transmission with low energy consumption in wireless sensor networks by introducing security-aware methods and features. A Bit Mapping-based channel allocation method is proposed, distinguishing between critical and non-critical nodes to ensure prioritized communication for time-sensitive data. A comprehensive mathematical model is developed to evaluate the system performance by enabling the analysis of energy consumption at the end nodes, gateways, and overall system levels. In addition, a security-aware feature is integrated into the application layer using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)-128 and AES-256 encryptions, dynamically adjusting security levels based on the criticality of the sensor node while ensuring minimal impact on energy consumption. The channel access is optimized by prioritizing energy management according to the criticality of the information processed, ensuring energy-efficient and secure communication. The performance of the proposed protocol is analyzed with respect to standard TDMA-based LoRa Medium access Control (MAC) protocols. The result analysis proves the superiority of the proposed protocol.
