Editorial

I am happy to present the Volume 5, Issue 2 (July 2019) of the Manipal Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences (MJNHS). Publication of the journal is a challenging task as it takes a long process of reviewing editing, printing and publication. This issue has original research articles on various health-related topics, a review article and a case report. The significant expansion of tertiary health care services necessitates specialist nurses with advanced preparation. The nurse practitioner program has been started in India as a capacity building for the nurses to prepare them to meet the increasing demand in health care. The review article on the evolution of paediatric nurse practitioner role highlights the scope and practice of nurse practitioners. The original articles are in the areas of psychosocial stress among antenatal women, the effect of breast massage on the volume of breast milk, psychological needs of immobilized patients, comparison of different body positions on Pulmonary function, reproductive risk factors of thyroid cancer, impact of social networking of adolescents and management of poisoning among children. The journal also includes a case study of a hemophilic patient. I thank Dr Baby S Nayak who served as editor in chief of MJNHS since its inception till April 2019. Her effort in getting the ISSN number for the journal and indexing the journal in J Gate, Google Scholar and ProQuest is commendable.
